Happy New Year

Well here we are at the end.
Of the year.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and got everything they wanted. I did and then I woke up the next morning and all hell broke loose. Don't ask I don't want to talk about it.

I am blog surfing this morning and I found this cute blog and it had a funny name. It gave me a laugh and so I thought I would share the item I found on this ladies blog. I have no idea who she is and where she comes from so if you know this person thank her for the chuckle she gave me today. Now I know you are waiting for a big reveal but it is just a little thing...

Derfwad: /durf/wod/ noun
1. low grade moron
2. pathetic term of endearment;
3. nut job
Don't stick your finger in the light socket, derfwad!
Come give me a kiss, you little derfwad.

Okay it is just little, but it gave me a big smile.
How many times have I used this word in my life? maybe once, twice or even never.
I think it is one of those funny words that you can use and not hurt feelings(at least is hope not), like when my sister calls me a honky. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't be offended I am not out to offend. I needed a smile on my face today and now I have one that will last all day. I hope I at least made my sister smile by sharing this with everyone. Oh and if you don't like what I have to say just don't read it. Have a Happy New Year!!!!

Birthday Girl

Ashley turned 15 yesterday. In one year from now I have to figure out how to get the laws changed so she can't, Yes I said CAN'T, Get her drivers license. She is a terrible driver and all she does is giggle during the whole thing. I tried to take her driving before and she just about drove our truck into the church. I was trying to take over the controls and so was she. Yesterday she had a last minute bash with her friends and they wanted to watch scary movies so they watched the Dark Night. I have not seen this movie yet but it sure sounded intense.
Anyways happy birthday to Ashley. I love her so much. She is such a good example for this family and she is so bubbly almost all of the time. She loves it when her dad takes her out for frozen yogurt on the way to school even when it is 30 below outside. Today I am taking her to see Twilight. Yes we are the only ones ever who have not seen this movie yet. Ashley has a very busy life and I am trying to keep up with it.

Christmas pictures

These are the pictures of the kids for christmas.

Better late than never

WOW! I can't believe that I have not posted a thing since November. Well, now that Christmas is almost here I really should update my blog.

We have been really busy. Clint came home one day on standby and stayed home for about 3 weeks. It was really stressful at first and than it became really fun. We got all of our Christmas shopping done while he was home. We went out on Black Friday and stood in one line. I am not sure if I can get him to do this again. We went to lunch almost everyday. When he went back to work the dishes piled up and I had no idea how I was going to feed myself at lunchtime(j/K).
When he finally went back to work he came back home for a couple of more days. Now he is back and I hope he gets to come home for Christmas. We are so thankful that he has this job but I wish it was a little more steady on the days on and off. When he was home he was still getting his day rate so that was SO nice to play and still get paid.

We took some pictures of the kids for grandparents but we were in such a hurry to take care of a truck issue that I only took ten shots and I keep thinking I wish I would have taken more but now it is too late. I wish I had a better camera for stuff like that but mine is fine for what we need.

I hope everyone is doing great this holiday season. We really have enjoyed making and receiving christmas cards this year. If you did not get one from us we probably do not have an address or they are still on their way. Merry Christmas to all. Love the Mickelsons

Happy Halloween 2008

Happy Halloween. Here are all the kids dressed up for Halloween. Tanner is behind the scary mask. Madison is Nefertiti and all the other kids are pretty much self explanatory. Halloween this year was so fun. My mom brought Dax up, Emily came up with her kids and they all had a sleep over. It was very chaotic but fun.

Sky view "future" Vistauns

A couple of weeks ago Ashley and Sugar were in a vistauns clinic and they performed at the last football game. Sugar loved it so much. Ashley has done something like this before. I tried to take pictures of the kids dancing but there was way too many moms fighting for the best spot so I stayed back and let them take pictures of the 15 second dance.

Tanner and Spencers birthday at Boondocks

We went to Boondocks for the boys' birthdays this year. It was so fun. Even Emily and I had a blast. I found out that Ashley is all about racing when it comes to driving so we will have send our governer a letter asking for the driving age limit to be increased. I let the kids just grab a buddy and go play, so I did not get alot of pictures because I spent more time looking for them. We all had fun and we want to go back next year.

It's been a while

Oh my it has been a while since I put some new pictures or new info on our blog. I visit everyday hoping that there is something new but there isn't. I guess it is up to me to update info and to let you all know what is going on in life. We have been busy waiting for Halloween and now that is over we are getting ready for the next thing to come along. Its always fun to guess what our busy lives bring us next. Dishes perhaps... A new car...maybe a new baby(HA that won't happen)....Well Ashley is trying out for basketball. I never in a million years would have thought any of my kids could do basketball. I am way to short to even think about being a basketball player. I hope she does well. She spends a ton of time at the rec center and hopefully she will at least learn something from all of this.

Tag: I guess I am it.

I am not sure what this means to be tagged but I will do my best.

The rules of the game are list 6 quirks about yourself. Tag 6(or 2) other people. Link the person that tagged you. List these same rules on your blog.
So here goes:

1. I love to stay in my jammies all day. If it were acceptable for a grown adult to wear her
jammies to church I would. I am in my jammies now because I have nowhere to go today.
School is out for the weekend and I am not doing anything until Saturday.

2. I love to buy scrapbook stuff. I make things rarely and it is usually an idea I picked up from
somewhere else. But when I say buy...Yes I have so much stuff that I am not sure what I
even have anymore.

3. I love hanging out with Ashley. She is so fun. We have this thing we do with our hands in front
of our faces(you just have to see it) when our favorite song comes on the radio. I should say
songs. We love to have it loud in the car and then no one can hear my horrible voice or see
my terrible dance moves.

4. I love Halloween and I love to decorate for Halloween.

5. I love coloring in coloring books with Sugar. I love to buy her new coloring books at the dollar
store and I love new crayons too.

6. I don't like talking about myself. I thought about just ignoring this tagging but I thought I
would give it a try. My kids think I am pretty crazy all by myself so if I were to ask them to
tell me some quirky things about myself they could probably name some crazy stuff.

So if this isn't quirky enough for you than I suggest being a fly on the wall for a day. But if I see a fly I will do my best to smack it dead. I hate flys.

So here are my people I am flagging...Heather Dodd and The Allen's and I am sorry I am new to blogging so I will tag someone else later but if I tag you, you HAVE to tag 6 people. I didn't think Megan and Jodi want to be tagged again.

Halloween countdown calendar

Ashleys cross-country meet

I did not get any pics of Ashley running so this is the next best thing! This is Jared and Ashley posing. Jared is on the CC team but he was injured so he was just goofing off.

Here is Sugar and Ashley

This is a picture Sugar took. Ashley was cheering on the boys' team.

We were at the American West Heritage center. It is so neat there. The course the kids ran on was just beautiful. They have it all set up for Halloween so that is why we have the fun face pictures. We also saw the Buffalo in a field eating pumpkins.

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday I took the kids out to pick pumpkins. Ashley just got back from her cross-country meet and it was so cool to be out just in time to also see the sunset.

Clint and the kids outside the treehouse museum

This is Clint and the kids just outside of the Museum after we were done.

Treehouse museum

Last week we went to the treehouse museum in Ogden and it is so cool. Spencer and Sugar are now officially running mates for the white house. So when you go out to vote make sure you add them in. Watch out Sarah Palin and Obama.

Snow Bird

We went to Snowbird last weekend and we decided that we were having so much fun that we would stay one more day. Boy am I glad we did. On Monday it snowed that morning. It was so beautiful. I am so glad I took pictures because by the afternoon it was all gone. We also saw the most beautiful bluejays, but everytime I tried to get a picture they would fly off. We stayed at the Iron Blosam lodge. Emily's father in law(Jeff's dad) has a time share for a week. He is German so he always has time during October fest. That is something to see. Lots of beer drinking or I should say beer spilling people. It was way too busy for us to enjoy so we did not spend too much time at the festival.

Tanner with his pig

Here is Tanner with his pig "Calvin". He has shown pigs a couple of times now so he knows what to do. He has always won some sort of prize when showing his pig.

Utah state fair

This is Ashley with her lamb "BO PEEP" I am very proud of her for raising such a good looking lamb. Bo peep was a little on the fat side but Ashley ran with her almost everyday. Most lambs are very stubborn but not Bo Peep she loved being around Ashley so she was easy to handle and work with.
Ashley is a wanna be cowgirl with a preppie side. She found her a hat at the fair on the first day and she did not take it off for nothing.
She got sick of me taking her pick so she rolled her eyes at me and BAM I caught it. Never before have I had proof of the eye rolling.
Here are the little kids with thier new hats. I think Sugar will grow up to be the cutest cowgirl.

This is the first time Ashley has shown a pig. She did a great job. There are so many other kids in the ring at the same time it was hard for her to get the pig where it need to be. By the way her pigs name is "Chuck Norris" and it is a girl.

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

We spent the day with the Schiess family. Kelli and Ben were here so we rode the bus for the first time and had aggie ice cream and just hung out on campus at Utah State.

Cache county fair

I love this picture of Ashley. All of her feelings are right there. Being her mom is the greatest thing in the world and I am so proud of her.
There is this PeeWee division for the 4-H so Spencer and Brynnlee got to show the lamb and get $2 and a big drink. This is the judge that we are not so fond of right now.

The kids worked so hard this year with thier animals. We still have the lamb and 2 more pigs to show at the state fair. I just love this close up of Ashley. I know what is going on in her head and so this picture means alot to me. She had a really stressful time at the fair, But she did an excellent job. We all can't wait for the state fair. I hope everyone can come and see us and support the kids.

Clint's 40th Birthday party

Clint told me that I need to add more pictures of other family members, not just Sugar. So heres to Clint. This is Jason and Clint and that one girl(Sugar). I wonder what all the smiles are for? Could it be because Clint just turned 40(on the 23rd)!?!

Todays fair day

Today we had to go out to the farm and load up the pigs and lamb. We were loading in the dark. I don't recommend this to anyone. We got the animals to the fair and they are so happy to be there in the shade, cooler weather and nice wood shavings for their bed.

My dad helped out with Spencer and Brynnlee and I think it was just as hard for him to get them up as it was for us getting the pigs and lamb loaded.

Being a 4H mom is pretty boring although it is fun at times. We get to do the scoopin' and cleanin' because we are so proud to just be able to be there and see them perform or whatever it is that they do. Tomorrow is going to be another big day so I am off to bed. Night Night

Tanner was the big winner today. He won first place in his class for market. Then he went on to win 7th OVERALL. The next day he won 2nd place in showmanship. I am so proud of him. Ashley did very well with the lamb. She had a very picky judge and so we did not know what to expect. I do have video of poor Ashley being knocked over by another lamb. She did have fun and now she is prepping the lamb for the state fair. Just imagine Rocky climbing those stairs all the way to the top yelling "Adrian"! But our lambs name is Bo Peep.

Cache county fair

Well today is the first day of the fair going-ons for us this week. The animals go on Wednesday, but today we sheer the lamb and shave the pigs and make our posters. The kids are really excited. Although Tanners pig is not going to make it he will still go and show Ashley's pig. Ashley will still show the lamb. We have a very busy week ahead of us. Anyone who would like to come and see us we should be there all day Thursday-Saturday.

Farm kids

This is Brynnlee washing the pen that we use to wash the pigs. This is Brynnlee with 3 of the pigs.

This is Tanner and Chuck Norris I always wanted to be a farmer. Maybe not a pig farmer, but this is what the kids can do in 4-H without having an animal bigger than they are, like a steer or horse. We have 4 pigs and one lamb. We love the Lamb and we wish we had more. Lambs also don't stink as bad as pigs. Sugar wants to be involved in everything that goes on at the farm. Don't you love the red boots?

Hot Chicks

My girls are getting so big. They had to go shopping together and of course they had to have the coolest sunglasses. Brynnlee is such a poser and loves her picture taken.

Sunday, July 6, 2008

This is Spencer after his last baseball game. He sure enjoyed baseball this year. He wants to do football next. I think I will sign him up in flag football first. Sugar and I went to every game we could. She usually got bored, but some of the games she usually found a friend to play with.

Sugar making hair clips

Having 4 kids and all of them out of school and having thier own lives and different activities going on is so hard on Sugar. So the other day we went to the store and bought some flowers so we could have some time to do something together without the boys or all of the neighbor kids over. This is a flower she is putting together to make a new clip for her hair. She enjoyed this so much. We still ended up with some of the neighbor kids over including Stevie( Ashley's male friend)(I can't say boyfriend she would shoot me).

Hair flowers

Here is Sugar working so hard and the final product.

Hot air balloons

We are so lucky to have such an amazing view. We came home one night after farming and we could see these balloons out at the airport. It was a little smokey from the California fires, but I still got an amazing shot. I now wished I had a better camera.

Bo Peep

This is Ashley and her lamb this year. Ervin is giving her a lesson on how to sheer the lamb for the fair.

Our trip to Pinedale

I took some pictures of the kids when we went to visit Clint at his work. We went to go visit him over memorial day weekend. It was still really cold and we had to stay in the hotel for almost a whole day because a big storm came in. It gets very windy up there in Wyoming.

Parade

Sugar and Dax enjoying the parade at Healthdays. OH and there's Jared again
(He's just Ashley's friend).

Ashley and Jared

This is Ashley and Jared. He's just a friend. He ran with her too!

Smithfield Healthdays race

This is Ashley and Clint running in the Smithfield healthdays fun run. They both ran the 5k together. Ashley got 2nd in her age group and I don't know what Clint got. This is Ashley's new hobby she loves running and she is on the Cross country team for Skyview next year.
